Safari and beach
Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar
Ninety minutes by air separates the Serengeti from Zanzibar — close enough that most of our guests end a safari with a few nights of no alarm clock.
Zanzibar sits a short flight from the northern circuit's airstrips, which is why it's the most common way a Tanzania safari actually ends: a run through the mainland parks, then a light-aircraft hop to the coast for Stone Town's history and a beach with nothing else scheduled.
The itinerary below combines both directly. If the beach half is the priority and the safari is secondary, the reverse is just as easy to arrange — tell a guide the balance you want between the two.

Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar, answered directly
About ninety minutes by light aircraft, usually routed through Arusha — it's a short enough hop that it's normal to do a final game drive in the morning and be on a beach by the afternoon.
Three nights is the practical minimum to feel like a real change of pace rather than a stopover; four to five is more common when it's positioned as the trip's closing chapter rather than an add-on.
Yes — the order is entirely a matter of preference. Some guests prefer to acclimatise on the coast before the early game-drive mornings; others want the beach as the wind-down at the end.
